2008 Wheelchairs for Kids Golf Day.

Not even the prospect of a cold day in Melbourne stopped over 80 passionate golfers from braving the elements to raise funds for Wheelchairs for Kids, at a charity golf day hosted by the Australian Toy Association on Monday, 12th May.

Kicking off 12.15pm for a Shot Gun Start, players were motivated by the prospect of beating their industry rivals! At the end of the day, tired and sore but with their sense of humour in tact, the teams arrived back at the clubhouse reflecting on the day’s triumphs and failures.

Each year, players enjoy the opportunity to play on a world class course as well as participating in other activities such as the $10,000 Hole In One competition, Interstate Shield, individual and team events.  The close of the day allowed them all to relax at the Cocktail party and the fund raising activities then begin.

Scorecards aside, the Wheelchairs for Kids Charity was the clear winner for the day.  Wheelchairs for Kids raise money to buy wheelchairs and equipment to enhance the quality of life of Australian children in need.

Whilst all monies raised have not been finalised, we are pleased to report that the day raised over $35,000 for the ATA’s Wheelchairs for Kids charity which is a great achievement.

Thank you to all of our sponsors and supporters who contributed to making this a special day for our industry.

Special thanks must go to Variety who came on board for the first time as the major supporter for the day.  Variety donated $10,000 to Wheelchairs for Kids which was an extremely generous contribution.

Much thanks to Noel Thurlow who was the MC for the evening.

The annual auction ably managed by David Hendy and his assistant - John Issac provided much entertainment for the evening. In addition, it provided another opportunity to raise funds for Wheelchairs for Kids.  Thank you all for your support with this.
